Whitney Parris, AMFT
I am a Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (100756) registered with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences. Supervised by Stephen Mardell, MFT Lic# LMFT33517.
My passion is partnering with people to help them gain insights about their life, experience healing, and identify and reach their life goals. Sometimes you may need someone to listen to you empathetically or provide extra support without judgment. Other times you may need someone to strategize with you on how to solve challenges and address immediate needs. I’m here to meet you where you are and help you find what you need.
For the little ones in our life, they may need some help adjusting to life transitions, developing skills or need a dedicated place to process things in their own way. Depending on the age and maturity of your child, this may include using games, play or art to help them process. Children do not want to sit down and talk about their life like us. Their language is play and it helps them process what is going on in their life. For the older and more mature kids or adolescents, they are more accustomed to talking and processing like adults.
I especially love working with children, adolescents and women. I have experience working with families and couples, helping to reduce interpersonal stress and re-establishing healthy and strong bonds. Much of my specialized training has been in the areas of family systems, grief and loss, play therapy, expressive arts, and anxiety in children and adolescents. Additionally, my experience has included working with infertility, relationship conflict, divorce, family patterns and women’s issues. I have a BA in Political Science from Rhodes College and a MA in Marital Family Therapy from Bethel University San Diego.
I look forward to meeting and working with you!
